Description

Description of the workshop

Vessel, From Old Frenchvaissel , implies a container, a chalice but also a ship or a boat.

‘I am fascinated with the sacred nuances of the word Vessel, for carrying something precious and unique, a treasure which should be protected and adored.’

You are invited to join Isabelle for a full day workshop where artists will be introduce to the creation of sculptural free standing encaustic vessels.

During this workshop, Isabelle will take encaustic artwork to another level, where you will be exploring the sculptural and light carrying quality of the medium in a 3D form.

Each artwork made by the participants will be one of a kind encaustic vessel, made with pure beeswax, Damar resin and natural pigments.

Encaustic is an ancient medium used in Ancient Egypt to create paintings and sculptures, involving pure natural beeswax melted with Damar resin, to which natural pigments may be added. This process will harden and add transparency, vibrancy and lustre to the artwork.
