Encaustic cakes for former customers

Encaustic paints & medium

I am very aware that encaustic materials can be very hard to find in Ireland and I have supplied in your material files a list of trusted suppliers in the UK & Europe.

Due to demand, I am also selling to my customers, starter kits of my own encaustic medium in the form of cakes (pigmented/unpigmented)

What you will find below are the cakes and colors handcrafted by me and used during my live workshops ( pure natural filtered beeswax, damar resin and pure pigments).

How to use your cakes?

Encaustic colors are worked molten.
Place the encaustic cake in a metal container, and let it melt on a hotplate. These cakes are very pigmented, so I would advise you to cut the cake in 4 parts and dilute one part with some encaustic medium. The more you dilute the pigmented cake with encaustic medium, the more transparent your color will be.

The temperature of your hotplate should not exceed 75 ° C.

Once molten, the encaustic paints can be mixed with medium (for transparency) or any encaustic color directly on the hotplate or in another metal container. Apply the color with a brush on your support.

At the end of the session, clean the bottom of the containers with paper towels to remove the wax, and leave to cool outside the hotplate.
