About the virtual course

 

I am delighted to be bringing to you an online version of my most popular encaustic painting workshop, finally available for you to book from wherever you are in the world.

 

You will get the same in-depth information shared during my  full day workshop in the comfort of your own home.

This online course uses Zoom video-conferencing platform for one day, from 11 to 5 pm ( GMT), supplemented with  study notes and lessons.

You will also have access to one-to-one student support and feedback from me via a private Facebook Group created especially for you if you wish to connect and share your work with a community of fellow encaustic artists.

The class will include demonstrations, guiding you in detail through the encaustic process, interaction and discussion about the methods and techniques shown , and practical  exercises which can be submitted, via the FB group, after the workshop  for individual appraisal or group support.

This course is designed to encourage you

to set time for your artistic practice and remain creative

while surprising yourself with what you are able to create.

(11am – 1.30pm and 2.30pm – 5 pm , with a five minute break every hour)

∴ You will have the opportunity to create artworks together in real time, or if you are unable to attend the class, watch the class at your own pace, and revisit it as many times as you like.

 Throughout this course,  I will be offering guidance and knowledge of processes and techniques I have used for the last decade in my artistic practice.

You will have the opportunity to discover, or expand your knowledge of  encaustic painting, while I will be revealing to you unique methods to loosen up and experiment with the medium  that will transform the way you create with encaustic painting.

 

• Resources on safety, ventilation, correct working temperatures, and proper use of equipment, as you will have unique access to my encaustic studio.
• Appropriate supports and grounds, choose a colour palette, brushes, colours, and studio set up.
• Different ways to apply paint, fusing options.
• Mastering the enchanting shellac burn technique
• How to achieve a smooth/textured surface and proper use of a blowtorch
• Creating your own colours and making your own medium
• Incorporating mixed media techniques and embedding elements such as collage
• Mark making and stenciling
• tips, tricks, and insights to loosen up your style
• How to care for and frame your work

Faq’s

 

How long is the course?

This is a full day course, 11 to 5 pm ( GMT) ,when we will meet live via Zoom .

What is Zoom?

 Zoom is a high resolution video conferencing platform. You do not need a Zoom account to join a meeting, however you will have to download the software for free ( All instructions how to set it up will be explained clearly and simply once you register for the course) . I’ll set up a private meeting online and once you register, I will send you the link & passcode to access the meeting  (keep an eye on your Inbox and Spam).

If you are unable to attend the Zoom session live, a link to the  recording will be send to all via email which you will be able to watch at your leisure.

 

Who is the class for?

This course is suitable for all levels of experience, or none, from beginners, to any professional artists who wish to fortify their skills and knowledge.

Experience in encaustic painting or any other form of painting is not necessary as we will go back to basics. As you will get more confident with encaustic painting, we will move to more challenging and inspiring techniques, in order to elevate and challenge your painting process and expand your technical knowledge of encaustic.
